Friday 5:30 – Dalton Maag
Today we were thrilled to host international typeface designers Dalton Maag for a 5:30. They gave us a fascinating insight into some of their recent works for both Nokia and Lush, as well as treating us all to some amazing freebies! It opened up the team’s eyes to the sheer amount of detail and epic scale involved in producing two very different fonts, both intended for global application. Nokia Pure is available in 19 script systems and took four years to complete.
Their incredibly complex work for Lush – taking the brand’s familiar handwritten font (which we learnt is the handwriting of an original staff member) and recreating it for the digital landscape – is a scripting success. It features glyphs and character variations programmed to ensure the original handwriting authenticity.
