Studio projects / Timothy Foster
Superman’s Pockets was a successful collaboration with photographer Timothy Foster. The result was a limited edition, spandex covered, book featuring six of the nine superheroes that Foster captured on film: Maths Man, Captain Beany Dougy, Mr Methane, Angle-Grinder Man and Supertranny. It is indicative of the quality of his beautiful, honest and unconstructed photographs, which are not judgmental or patronising, but reflect the genuine affection, respect and empathy that Foster felt for each individual.
“Superman’s pockets started as a piece of conceptual documentary with a political intent but ended up being something about human fallibility. What I liked about the series was that it was about people on the fringe of society who had just as much to say about life and how we live it than those we deem ‘normal’.”
